Who is Gabriel Herrera, and what can you learn from him?

Hi! I'm Gabriel Herrera, although many know me as Gags in the 3D world. I'm a 3D artist and today I'm here to guide you through the fascinating process of 3D character modeling. I've had the opportunity to work on several projects, mainly in the vibrant city of New York, focused on video games. Two of my most notable collaborations include the Reto Atkins book study for the video game "Dip Six" and the "Desire of Lens" project, both in full development in New York. My involvement focused on modeling and creating textures for characters within these video games.

What are the objectives of the 3D modeling course?

The main objective of the course I offer is to teach you how to materialize your ideas in the 3D world through three main pillars:

  1. Modeling: You will learn to give volume and shape to your characters, taking them from a two-dimensional concept to a three-dimensional space where they come to life.
  2. Texturing: You will master the application of textures to give color and detail to your models, allowing your characters to acquire an authentic and attractive appearance.
  3. Rigging: I will teach you how to implement a skeleton to your character so that it can move and be animated effectively, giving it dynamism and functionality.

How does this course fit into the overall learning of character creation?

This 3D modeling course is the culmination of a deep learning journey in character creation. It ties directly into two other core courses:

  • Introduction to Character Creation: guided by Humberto, this course provides a solid psychological foundation of characters. You will learn to understand their motivations, fears and essential characteristics to build a deep and realistic character.

  • 2D Character Art: In this course, led by Carlos Avila, known as Charlie Avila, you transform psychological concepts into visual designs. Your character begins to take shape in the two-dimensional world reproduced in drawings and sketches with a coherent personality.

How does the process unfold in this course?

This course focuses on the secondary character named Theo, who is part of the story we have developed in previous courses. Theo will be your working model to practice the three essential phases of 3D design mentioned before: modeling, texturing and rigging. The emotional connection we feel for Theo is one of the reasons why we have chosen him to explore and apply the techniques we have learned.

We are excited to begin this journey with you and see how your skills and creativity are reflected in the 3D characters you will be able to create. Remember, success in the 3D world is not just about technique, it's about how you bring stories to life through characters that resonate with authenticity. Vi que el programa que se usa en éste curso es Maya luego eché un vistazo al precio de cuanto cuesta Maya y…casi me caigo de la silla. Me pregunto existe algún curso en donde se use Blender?

Excelente, estoy con los ojos hinchados de tanto que he aprendido en esta plataforma, que vamos seguir ahora con “Gabs” como hacer “Rigs”, de las cosas importantes en la animación 3D que me hace falta. Espero aprender mucho de ti “Gabs” asi que le voy a echar ganas!!!

Al no poder obtener el programa, es lo mismo realizarlo con blender?
