In the world of 3D modeling, Maya is an essential tool to bring our creations to life. Today, I will guide you through the steps to model Ajoloteo's shirt. We will use extrusion, smoothing and symmetry techniques, each vital to achieve a professional and aesthetically appealing result.
We start by selecting all the upper sides of the pants and extruding upwards. This step is important to create the Ajoloteo belt. We use loops to better define the structure of the belt:
# Select the top facesExtrude upwards# Add loops for the belt.
Next, we continue to extrude upwards, scaling to make sure that the mesh is not stretched. We will create additional cuts to avoid distortions and get the Ajoloteo chest shape.
To perfect the modeling, it is essential to work on the side views and adjust the curves. A useful tool in this process is to press D
and V
to snap to vertices. In addition, we can use the pivot to move and scale specific segments:

to activate the soft selection tool and adjust the mesh precisely.While modeling, removing edges correctly is crucial to avoid future problems. Two methods exist: delete with DE SUPRIME or do it correctly with Control + Delete
to make sure there are no hidden vertices:

Smoothing is key to give a professional finish. We use the Sculpt tool from the menu, making sure to activate the symmetry:
To complete the model, it is essential to add the arms. We use the circularize
tool and control the twist. To avoid mistakes, it might be necessary to disable the symmetry to adjust independently each arm:
# Select the area, then:Control + Shift + Click to Circularize# Adjust with the Alignment tool.
Adding thickness to the sleeves is essential for a realistic render. We use Control + E
to extrude the faces, adjusting the thickness as needed. And finally, we apply the mirror effect to generate the other arm:
