In another course from platzi there is a specific video about conference in English by the Platzi CEO.
There are some difference between a presentation and a conference, but the main important thing is being prepared.

the teacher make the class very interesting ,i love this course 😄

The most important part is to be prepared in all different aspects!

Jess, this is the quote for those who lack confidence (like me): **
Fake it till you make it**

Here’s a TED conference about this topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVmMeMcGc0Y

I love this man :))

Practice before is key to have succes

From personal experience: Always have a PDF version of your presentation

In this class I notice that Jess used “practise” instead of “practice”, the first one it’s used in British English while the second it’s used in American. That was new for me, good to know.
.

Fake it until you make it

Summary and conclusion are very important, because that is the call to action…

We’re stronger when we listen and smarter when we share (R. At-Abdullah).
How to give them a perfect presentation?

  • We start with preparation

    1. TOPIC and CONTENT: We need to research all about the topic so we know what we’re going to present. Think about the objectives and the gold at the end. We need to be different (ask questions) and at the end we need to be brief and use keywords.

    2. AUDIENCE: Adapt content to your audience. Adjust the languages. Type of meeting. Length of time. Adjust the slides.

    3. RESOURCES: We need to have backup materials because maybe you speak way too fast and what happens is you run out of things to say and you run out of slides and you don’t know what to say and you still have three minutes. Check the technical side: check that the videos work well beforehand for example.

    4. BEFORE YOU START: It’s a practice. You need to practice a lot with friends or colleagues. Ask people to listen to your presentation.

  • PRESENTING (how do we do it ?) :

    1. Keep it interesting. Use humor.

    2. Be confident: If you don’t have confidence, pretend to have it.

    3. Speak slowly and clearly: (for your audience).

    4. Face the audience and make eye contact: make sure you are looking at your audience. You can look them in the eye or you can have a trick where you look almost to the back of the hall.

  • STRUCTURE FOR A SHORT PRESENTATION:
    The introduction.
    The purpose of the presentation.
The menu for the main points.
    Section 1, section 2, Section 3, etc.
The summary and conclusion of your presentation. It’s important because that is your call to action. You need to be very clear in that last part.

fake it to you make it

good

When I was at school and I had a presentation as an assignment, I always asked my dad who was at Toastmasters at the moment, and he told me to always practice with them so they can note the things that didn’t seem right to do while I was talking, and by that, I always had the highest grade, but this is not about a grade but the support and process they lead me to become a better speaker. It is really necessary to know how to talk to some audiences, you should try going virtually to toastmasters, such a good tool to make your self-esteem higher.

The entire class is incredibly helpful! There are a lot of comments here about many things in the video, and I also want to remark this cool tips, because you may have prepared an amazing presentation, but if you get too nervous, it wont look so good:

“if you are not confident, pretend, fake it till you make it. The next thing is to speak slowly and clearly. When you start to get nervous, you start to speak faster.
Make sure you are looking at your audience. You can look them in the eye. Or you can have a trick where you look almost to the back of the hall. And that will help, but always kind of look at different people”
.

You thought about everything , thank you Jess!!

Giving a perfect presentation

We are stronger when we listen and smarter when we share.

We start with the preparation, and to prepare effectively, let’s start with the topic or content. That way we know what we are going to transmit to the people who are listening to us.

Next Let’s think about your audience. Who are we talking to? Are we talking to developers? Are we talking to sales marketing people?

Let’s also think about the type of meeting. Is it a one-on-one meeting? Is it a large group? Will there be interaction that can play into much of your presentation as well? Now the time. You have a very specific time period in your presentation.

Now we need back-up materials because maybe you speak too fast. Well, that’s why you need back-up materials to be able to carry out the presentation. If you need to also consult the technical aspect

You need to practice a lot. Practice with friends or colleagues. Asking people to listen to your presentation and practicing will help you become more familiar with your presentation. there is a basic structure for a short presentation. The first step is the introduction. Step two the purpose of the presentation.
The summary and conclusion are very important because that is your call to action.

Topic/content

Preparation

If we use slides to present, key words are vital. It’s boring a slide full of text!

Make a clear introduction in the presentation is important for the audience. We must be clear and specific.

  1. Introduction
  2. Purpose of the proesentation
  3. Menu of main points
  4. Start section 1
  5. Start section 2
  6. Start section 3
  7. Summary and conclusion

I loved ❤️ easy and practical

IMPORTANT Make a backup in a local storage and cloud storage

Structure for a short presentation

My best way to give a presentation is to tell a story. That always works

Before you start

I learned to have backup materials when I was presenting the results of an experiment, but the laptop they provided was out of date and it couldn’t open my PowerPoint presentation. I had to deliver my speech without any visual, of course, no one understood anything 😦

When you’re a professor you recognize when someone’s not well prepared to give a presentation

  • Main part of presentation.
  • An ending phase.
  • Invinting Question
  • Thanking the audience

Some neuroscience researches say that people take the information more active, during the first 16 minutes. A tip to take into account.

Structure for a short presentation

  1. Introduction: who I am.
  2. Purpose of the presentation
  3. Menu of main points
  4. Start section 1
  5. Start section 2
  6. Start section 3
  7. Summary and conclusion

Structure for a short presentation:
Step 1: Introduction
Step 2: Purpose of the presentation
Step 3: Menu of main points
Step 4: Start section 1
Step 5 :Start section 2
Step 6 :Start section 3
Step 7: Summary and connclusion

Also, you have to know your level audience to adapt your words, know your audience is key for a good presentation, I was thinking on Freddy presentations along this class jaja

I had never thought before about backup material, sweet tip

Good tips for a presentation. The most important “Be confident, fake it until make it”
