When a company have a bad culture is easy to notice that. In my first job, the coworkers rarely helped me when I needed it.

In a company it is very importan to have a leader not only a boss, leader involves into all matters of the company, boss only requires the work flows.

I believe that the culture of the company is very important to define the permanence of the employees and their job satisfaction.

My first aim for managing my international tech company

For instance, as Jess said before, the most important thing at our company is the team members, so if we work motivated with positive thoughts and if I give them enough tools that they need, certainly my team will be more productive.

— Following, I will need to look how is the work environment of my team both physically and mentally, there is enough light, the places are so crowded, they need calm spaces, how are lunch spaces? How long they take from their houses to the workplace? Could It be possible to provide some transport for them?

Soon after I’ll check what is the value-added or what are our values make us difference to our competitors. In addition, we need to ask our customers, how do they describe our company when they hear our name?

After that, once we might know what we need to change to get better in values such as communication, transparency, flexibility, and so on. As a consequence, I’ll develop a plan where I shall have into a count the time, budget and the team leader available to manage and to involve every single collaborator of our company.

Thereafter, we have to measure and evaluate the progress to check if every single member is working in the same side to growth as the greatest team.

This course has been really helpful for me because I’m working in the human resources field and in my area, it’s super important to know about our employees and their welfare and environment to do better day per day.

The best way to track your process is tracking for goals, not for hours that you work in.

How to make our company better for people?

  1. Evaluate your current company culture
    What’s important for your workers? What rules do they follow?
    You need observe people, do surveys and short interviews
  2. Connect your values with everyday activities
    You should see ways to improve the work environment. Employees with a good working environment tend to enjoy what they do. In exchange, they perform much better because of the atmosphere and freedom provided with good company culture.
  3. Have a plan!
    Have a strategy, timeline, and budget to solve the previously identified problems. Set benchmarks and assign a responsible person for each task.
  4. Measure the progress:
    It measures it and assesses your progress. Have feedback and observe the behavior of your employees.

The 4th step is the most important to me, even though sometimes I do not track all the progress, it really helps me to see what areas I should strengthen.

in my country(Colombia) I believe that one of the biggest problems why people do not continue in their jobs is because of the bad work environment, many bosses try to pressure their workers with fear and this creates insecurity and can even lead to workers making mistakes, for theses reasons, I believe that more than a boss, a leader is needed who motivates his or her workers and makes the best of each one of them.

I work in a little editorial company that management three scientific journals. My work is the management of all data input in the website of those journals, send papers to the editorial group and revisors; Then, I must supervise the layout of all journals, check that no having errors in the format, and compliment editorial norms.
The most important in my colleagues are making good work, but sometimes exist problems in the details of every issue of de journals. Authors’ first names and last names sometimes don’t are correct writing; pictures, ORCID, and others, including Biographies are not correct. But exist a spirit of enforcement and, all try to get better results. I support this collaborative spirit.

In my company we need to evaluate the current company culture, we are a remote company and they wait results but they don´t think in how workers take the job.

Good information. Many companies fail to merge because the culture of the workers collide, so it is good to do an analysis and improve on that.

That’s true, not only matters the fact of the money but also the culture and the people who you are working with.

Besides of the survey, I will do an observing study and I will review their behaviors and I will talk with them for get more information.

In my experience, I have put to understand that strategies as the work remote and the flexibility are motivation for the workers. I worked in a company per 7 years, only by the remote work and It was a good motivation. If I will be somebody that want to change a company for generate more motivation, I would begin with this.

I’m thinking about de mision and vision’s company, Is it an equal? I mean, the culture company is building around they? Or how can we make the relation betwen both of them?

I start to like this course. I work for a global company and it is true about the culture. It is hard being a Latin in the middle of people that cannot make a joke or trying to be relaxed working and the only way to get a nice conversation with your co-workers is with a pint in the hand. However, I feel grateful for this opportunity even some people at work don’t call me by my name, they just shout up “Colombian” and that is a nice way to feel that we are breaking the ice.

It is a whole plan for the people, because the culture = the people I like that

Well, as for me is important to know about the culture inside the company, level of job satisfaction, at the same time a manager cares about the profit, we need to evaluate more often the human capital, all employees needs recognized, and make a better payments plans, or helping financial options to be sure most employees has a higher level of wellness

It´s important to think of people at the same level of profit.

Unfortunately most of the companies don’t respect or even value their people. They don’t really care about them.

Culture involves people. so, if you want to change a company culture you should to work with your coworker for create a new culture.

Changing the culture of an organization involves many challenges, it depends on the size, the diversity of the staff, the characteristics of the leaders, what the owners, the CEO, the state of finances, it is not the same to make changes in a company with healthy finances than in one with financial problems, the environment is very different.
This pandemic has made companies change the way they work and have to invest more in technology to adapt to new economic, market and health conditions, this implies that employees develop new skills and with it a transformation in the organizational culture.
