Welcome to this course where you will learn some of the key concepts of gender equality to identify the factors that influence the social construction of gender.
This course is structured in 4 modules and 16 classes in which you will learn:
- Basic concepts of gender.
- Main components in the social construction of gender: What is gender inequality and how does it arise?
- What do the new gender relations refer to.
General objective of the course
Define key concepts in relation to gender equality and identify factors that impact the social construction of gender in order to pursue gender equality.
Why should you care about all this?
Because promoting gender equality is essential in all areas of a healthy society, from reducing poverty to promoting the health, education, protection and well-being of girls and boys; in other words, a better world for all.
Twelve women, twelve stories
Professor Sandra Escobar published the book Twelve Women, Twelve Stories. This book is focused on narrating the life stories of Guatemalan women who have forged, even in the midst of difficulties, a career in art and culture.
Gender equality is a fundamental right as stated in number 5 of the 17 goals.
