Difference between the prepositions on and above.

On means ""on the surface of something"", but with the object touching that surface, either horizontally or vertically, for example:

  • The cup of coffee is on the table.
  • The pictures are on the wall.
  • The laptop is on the table.

On the other hand, above means on top of, but more distant from the surface:

  • There is a sign above the door.
  • The birds are flying above the houses.

Difference between the prepositions below and under

Below means "below", but more distant from the surface, while under is close to the surface.

  • The submarine is below sea level.
  • The paper is under the book.

"Along" es una preposición en inglés que significa "a lo largo de" o "junto a".
