This path may seem complex, especially when we consider letting go of old ways of labeling and avoiding hate speech that we tend to question in environments such as social networks. The first step is key: daring to ask. Curiosity and dialogue are powerful tools. How do we talk about gender or communicate effectively with different political groups? Let's start that conversation, even in the face of possible criticism. Diversity today stands as a model that is not only inclusive, but also potentially lucrative. Social media is a valuable threshold for initiating such dialogues and promoting inclusion.

Why is inclusion critical in our society today?

Inclusion is more relevant than ever. We are not in the era when one class dominated. Today, people with diverse ideas, experiences and needs are taking center stage. To increase readership or followers, media and influencers must consider inclusion as an essential strategy. It's time to be critical, but with yourself, rather than just pointing fingers at others. By adopting this mindset, you will open a great door for others to reach out to you. Inclusion becomes a powerful business driver. At the same time, it fosters a critical and educated society that realizes the reality in which it lives. Our spaces and platforms must be full of truthful information, far from gossip and unfounded judgments.

How can we contribute to peace from our place?

Building peace is challenging but possible. As Immanuel Kant said, war and conflict reflect power interests. However, people today are aware of their role in social transformation. By reporting truthfully, we contribute to building critical and educated citizens. Genuine peace brings opportunities and drives development. Analyze, for example, statistics comparing countries in conflict with those at peace in terms of their economic development. You will discover that peace opens up new avenues and opportunities that, in turn, foster growth. The invitation is to step out of our comfort zone and consider how peacebuilding can impact the development of our communities and countries.

What have we learned about journalism and social media for inclusion?

In this course, we explored how the media operates in contexts of conflict and the importance of human rights in peacebuilding. We delved into tools on how to address differential language, dealing with issues such as racism, feminism, and reporting on children and adolescents. The course highlights the obsolescence of binary categories. We focus on building together, understanding different perspectives and promoting inclusive dialogues. The learnings here are not just for journalists or influencers; we can all use these tactics to improve what we produce and do. As Sugey Valois invites us to do: think differently, ask different questions and build together with others. Your role is vital, whoever you are, in integrating these teachings into your daily actions.
