What is Jamstack and how does it revolutionize website creation?

Welcome to the fascinating world of Jamstack, where speed, scalability and customization of websites reach a new level. Guided by Oscar Barajas Tabares, this introductory course will take you to explore the difference between no code, low code and how Jamstack is positioned as a powerful solution. You will learn how to use visual tools to create websites that you can then customize with code, integrating key elements such as Google Analytics and SEO.

What is the no code movement?

The term "no code" refers to platforms that allow you to create websites without the need to know how to program. These tools provide a visual environment where you can:

  • Select pre-designed templates.
  • Customize logos, colors and other visual aspects.
  • Integrate services such as CMS and calendars.

The amazing thing is that all of this can be accomplished without writing a single line of code. In addition, these platforms generally offer business models that allow you to start for free, but offer premium services for advanced integrations or custom domain.

How are no code platforms used?

Using no code platforms is fairly intuitive. Below is a typical process:

  1. Template Choice: Start by selecting a suitable template for your project.
  2. Visual Customization: Modify colors, fonts and structure.
  3. Basic Integrations: Add tools like Google Analytics to monitor visits.
  4. Publishing: Once customized, you can choose to purchase a domain or use a free one.

These platforms also have certain limitations, such as the number of integrations per site, which can increase if you opt for premium services.

Advantages of no code

The no code approach allows people without programming skills to create functional and visually appealing websites. Some of the benefits are:

  • Speed of development: You will be able to generate prototypes or minimum viable products (MVP) in less time.
  • Reduced cost: Basic access is generally free, including templates and essential functions.
  • Flexibility: There are multiple visual customization options.

This paradigm is ideal for small businesses looking to establish an online presence without large investments in web development.

Going into more detail, additional options are explored such as purchasing and configuring a domain and performing global deployments with the help of DNS services. Learning Jamstack will open up a whole new world of possibilities for building innovative and efficient websites. In the next class, we will discover the low code approach and how it maximizes the potential for customization in web creation. Keep it up and keep growing in your technology skills!
