Resumen SM 🚀

That and This

We can use “this” and “that” as determiners or pronouns. If we use them as determiners we need to be followed by a noun and when we use them as Pronouns, we use them in place of nouns or noun phrases, either as a subject pronoun or an object pronoun.
// Podemos usar "esto" y "eso" como determinantes o pronombres.
Si los usamos como determinantes, debemos ir seguidos de un sustantivo y cuando los usamos como pronombres, los usamos en lugar de sustantivos o frases nominales, ya sea como un pronombre de sujeto o un pronombre de objeto.
Subject pronoun:
Performs the action in a sentence. // Desarrolla la acción de la oración.

  • That’s clear to me
  • This is amazing
  • That is fantastic!

Object pronoun:
Receives the action in a sentence. // Recibe la acción de la oración.

  • Have a look at this.
  • Are you okay with that?
  • Do you want this?

Hablar de determinantes en el contexto de "this" y "that" es correcto, ya que ambos pueden funcionar como determinantes cuando acompañan a un sustantivo. Sin embargo, en el uso como pronombres, "this" y "that" reemplazan al sustantivo y no funcionan como determinantes. Por lo tanto, aunque están relacionados, el uso de "this" y "that" como pronombres es un tema distinto del uso de determinantes. Ambos conceptos son importantes en la gramática, pero cumplen funciones diferentes.
