Cleft sentences are used to emphasize a specific part of a sentence.
Cleft is when the sentence is divided into two clauses.

Most common cleft sentences:
● All + (focus on one particular thing)

• All I need is a new pair of shoes. (present)
• All I needed was a new pair of shoes. (past)
• All I’ll need is a new pair of shoes. (future)

● It + (new information) + who/that/when (old information)

• It’s Maria who eats the cake. (present)
