Expressing wishes

15/20
Recursos

Puedes expresar deseos, anhelos o arrepentimiento de tres maneras diferentes.

Usando la estructura “I wish / If only + past simple” para expresar un deseo imposible que se cumpla en el presente:

  • I wish I lived in a big house in my country.
  • If only I lived in a big house in my country.

Puedes usar la estructura “I wish / If only + past perfect” para expresar arrepentimiento acerca de algo sucedido en el pasado:

  • He wishes he hadn’t eaten that ice-cream.
  • If only he hadn’t eaten that ice-cream.

O puedes utilizar la estructura “I wish / If only + Would / Could” para expresar un anhelo que creemos imposible de que suceda:

  • I wish she would save money.
  • If only she could save money.

“I wish” o “If only” tienen el mismo significado, ambas opciones son correctas.
