Common ways of expressing the future

11/19
Recursos

1. Futuro empleando will

  • Humans will colonize Mars in 30 years / Los humanos colonizarán Marte en 30 años

Para efectuar promesas. Hechos que haremos en un futuro.

  • I’ll pay you tomorrow / Te pagaré mañana.

  • Hold on. I’ll open the door / Espera.

  • The movie will start at 7:00 pm / La película comenzará a las 19:00 horas.

2. Futuro con to be + going to

  • I’m going to take the bus today / Hoy voy a tomar el autobús.

  • Look at the sky. It’s going to rain / Mira el cielo.

  • My son is going to start college next summer / Mi hijo va a empezar la universidad el próximo verano.

  • I’m having some drinks with Jack after the meeting / Voy a tomar unas copas con Jack después de la reunión
  • I’m traveling to Miami in a couple of weeks / Voy a viajar a Miami en un par de semanas.
  • He’s picking me up after class / Me recogerá después de la clase.

  • The plane departs at 6:50 am from Gate 3 / El avión sale a las 6:50 am desde la puerta 3.
  • My class starts in one hour / Mi clase comienza en una hora.
  • I have a doctor’s appointment next Monday / Tengo una cita con el médico el próximo lunes.
  • Christmas falls on a Friday this year / La Navidad cae en viernes este año.

4. Futuro con to be + about to

About to se traduce como a punto.

  • I’m about to go, I’m sorry! / ¡Estoy a punto de irme, lo siento!
  • She’s about to finish class / Ella está a punto de terminar la clase.
  • We are about to send you the email / Estamos a punto de enviarle el correo electrónico.

  • I’m about to loose my job / Estoy a punto de perder mi trabajo.
  • Wait, I’ll answer my phone / Espera, voy a contestar mi teléfono.
  • We are going to travel next semester/ Vamos a viajar el próximo semestre.
  • The train arrives in one hour / El tren llega en una hora.

Respuestas:

  1. Present continuos. Se trata de un acuerdo con fecha.
  2. About to. Se trata de un futuro inmediato.
  3. Will. Se trata de una decisión espontánea.
  4. Going to. Se trata de un plan.
  5. Presente simple. Se trata de un evento programado.
