What is a pitch and how many types are there?
A pitch is an essential tool to present your project to potential investors, collaborators, or partners. During this course, we learned that there is not only one type of pitch, but several, each with different characteristics and purposes:
- Elevator Pitch: A short speech, perfect for presenting in unexpected situations where you must capture attention quickly.
- Stair Pitch: Similar to the Elevator Pitch, but a bit longer, taking advantage of a more prolonged interaction.
- Face-to-face Pitch: In-person presentation, allowing the use of body language and voice modulation to make a stronger impact.
- Online Pitch: Presentation through digital platforms, requiring the use of audiovisual tools to maintain the interest of the audience.
Each type of pitch presents its own challenges and characteristics, which we discuss in detail in the classes.
What is a publisher and how can they help you?
A publisher in the context of games can contribute significantly to the development and success of your project. They not only handle the distribution of the game, but also offer services such as:
- Financing: Initial investment needed to complete and polish the game.
- Marketing: Promoting the game to reach the right audience.
- Technical and logistical support: Helping in the technical and logistical development of the game.
Knowing which type of publisher best suits your project is key to maximizing your chances of success.
How to elaborate an effective pitch deck?
Creating an effective pitch deck involves knowing what elements should be included in each of the slides. Throughout the course, we learned how to detail each essential slide, from the team introduction to the financial statement and monetization plan.
In addition to creating a pitch deck, we saw what additional documents should accompany it. Among them are:
- Promotional videos: That capture the visual interest of potential investors.
- Gameplay and prototypes: Showing the actual progress of the game.
- Links to additional resources: Such as demos of the prototype.
These elements are vital to build a solid narrative that captures publishers' attention and makes your proposal irresistible.
How to write effective emails to present your pitch?
The way you present your pitch is as important as the content itself. Emails must be precise and personalized, avoiding:
- Mass mailing: It can lead your pitch to blacklists and result in the recipient's indifference.
- The use of generic templates: They do not reflect the uniqueness of your proposal and can be easily ignored.
We learned how to structure the body of the message so that it is concise and personal, thus increasing the chances of receiving a positive response.
This training leaves you prepared not only to create a solid pitch deck, but also to present it effectively. The constant practice and attention to detail we have explored will be your best ally in the competitive world of game development. Keep going, your success is within reach!
