Driving requires alertness and skill. As we increase the speed while driving a car, the time of reaction gets reduced. For example, imagine a person moving at a speed of 30 meters per second in his car. If a deer starts crossing the highway 90 meters away from the car, it will take 3 seconds to hit the deer. Therefore, being distracted by just one second would make a huge difference between having an accident or not and hence the importance of being alert at all times.
Skills are also required when driving, especially when driving in cities. Some people have the skill of visualizing with the mind the space around them and making calculations of how far an object is away from them. This type of skill helps them park faster and prevent hitting the car with another object.
In conclusion, being attentive while driving makes us less likely to have an accident and complementing it with our skills makes driving a safer activity.
