Veamos algunos ejemplos:

  • It seems almost as if he has all the answers.
  • Michael Jordan looked as though he was flying.
  • Why do people act as though they understand everything in the world when they really don’t know anything?
  • At work, he acted as if he was calm and collected, but in reality he was very stressed.

  • If somebody gives you a business card, you have to treat it as if it were made of gold.
  • It looks as though we’re officially going to be doing business with a company in Japan next year!

Existen sutiles diferencias entre ambas expresiones. As if es más común que as though y suele ser utilizado para expresiones en diferentes contextos como en el siguiente diálogo donde se utiliza el as if de forma sarcástica:

  • Will you go on a date with?
  • Hahahaha, as if.

  • Comparison of actions. “Michael Jordan looked as though he was a flying”

As If vs As Though:

  • The difference is very nuanced
  • “As if” is more common than “As though”
  • “As if” is used as a set expression in some contexts

How to learn Nuances:

  • At a B2 level your comprehension good, but subtle details may be challenging
  • LISTEN, LISTEN to native speakers and the way they phrase certain ideas
  • You will absorb many nuances naturally
