I work as a telecommunications enginneer and i’m starting to take the first steps in my professional career wich is something i’m really excited about. I had always been interested in english, but it wasn’t until i entered college that I certainly realized how important english is, so I began to study it in a deeper and more serious way, at the age of 18 or so.
I understood that english could be the quality leap I was looking for, so I decided to take the plunge and here I am.
Of course, I would’ve rather gotten started on english erlier than I actually did, provided that the younger you are the more likely you are to learn a language properly and have a more native accent.
There is no time to regreat so having decided to learn english I immediately started doing courses and searching for more and more information on different websites.
As nobody at home speaks english, when I started to learn seriously I was able to determine that I would need to figure out how to practice with myself, so I put my mind to it and suddenly, i began talking to myself in the mirror as if there were somebody else with me, and that really worked for me and helpped me a lot.

After having explained to him, he understood and we solved the miss understanding.

I clearly can´t understand the source of her anger, or her antipathy. 1. What are the goals and key results you are aiming to achieve for the next quarter? How do you plan to achieve them?

My goal is to improve my grades, have more time to practice my English, and improve my health.

  1. I am a marketer. I am still figuring out what I love about this career. How am I figuring it out? I am a content creator and brand storyteller for an educational channel,I made it grow to 1000 subscribers organically. I love it, the best of it is getting a monetary reward because I can sell an educational course, and of course, it helps them to make their dreams a reality. I love filming videos to educate others with the same hunger as me. I will keep learning and creating great content.

  2. The main duties at my work are creating, writing copies and descriptions, and posting them on social media. Having filmed videos is such an excellent way to improve my confidence and learn from my mistakes. Of course, sometimes I am really scared because monetizing your content is such a hard task to do. I am occasionally surprised for having been selected for this role. Nonetheless, preparation and studies are necessary for being capable of delivering good results.

  3. I’ve had problems with the creator of the course I sell, the more work I put in the less happy she is. It’s a little frustrating dealing with people who don’t recognize your values but as long we have respect for each other, we don’t have any problems. The fights had been solved and at the end of the day, that’s what matters.

  4. The goals I am aiming for the next quarter are not about fake achievements like likes, views, or shares. The most important goal is to get the videos to people who are willing to buy our course so as to monetize the content. I should work as if my life depended on it. I am willing to make this my main cash flow.

  1. Hello! my name is Diego and I’m an mechatronic engineer student. I had been studied at UNAM in Mexico City by the time I was 18 years old. As soon as I finish my studies I will have learned by myself a lot of english, coding skills and of course, creating robots. Mechatronic Enginering needs coding a lot and manouvering skills, the best approach in Mechatronics is the efficiency in the managment of resources you use so as to create many things way more useful than the one that already exists.

  2. As a student, my main priorites so as to get the most out of my school is taking lots of free courses that my college offers in light of learning coding and how to create robots. I also think it’s time for me to look for any chances to expand my experience working in many areas to be more prepared as if I were trained for many years.
So the more I get prepared with many courses and the more things I could do the better job or the better bussines I could start.

  3. Yes, so many challenges especially with learning mathemathics, in higschool I had been very bad in math, and I hadn’t had the best education in math due to the covid 19, so that took me more effort in trying to understand math when I first joined college, as a matter of fact, I suspended calculus 1 in my firs semester in college, I had thought quit college due to my lack of skills with math, but I tried my best to undertand math and I can say I’m not even close yet, but atleast I took Calculus 1 again and I got a grade of 10!!, so I’m very optimistic for the future and now I think I can make everything I want and in a few years I will got my college degree and I’m going to be working in an amazing job.

  4. By the next quarter I will learnt coding in python and I’m going to be making a game in roblox which is one of the things I wanted to do since I had played the game in 2016. I know I said I making a game in roblox is one of my priorities but I also would rather making a game by my own, one of my inspirations for this is Scott Cawthon creator of the famous game franchise five nights at freddys. Now that I think about it, I would have rather started learning coding before when I got more free time, but it’s never to late to start again, so here we go and thanks so much for this classes, english it’s key in order to learn advanced tutorials of coding. Thanks a lot and hope to see you in another course.

  1. What’s your profession? Describe it as detailed as possible.

I’m a professional music teacher. I recently got my degree from the Xaverian Pontifical University. My daily work consists in teaching piano around the city at my students’ places. My piano classes are one-to-one, so I have to structure a personal pensum for each of them. At this moment I have around ten to twelve students, of diverse ages, the younger one is 5 or so, and the oldest is 37 years old. I´d like to see myself as a fun and creative teacher, so I plan my classes and try to mold myself to my students, I´m flexible in my methods, I have a bunch.

What are your main duties and priorities at work?

My primary duty is to teach piano, of course. But as I said before I have to move to their places, so I have to always be on time for the lessons.
In terms of my priorities, I like to prioritize the process and the enjoyment of the music, and also the artistic expression of it, I would rather they connect with the music, than understand perfectly the theory behind it.
It´s actually a work that is fun as it seems.

Have you had a challenging situation at work? If so, what was it and how did you handle it?

I´m kind of always wanting to get better, to improve and grow, but sometimes my co-workers don´t.
I am an assertive communicator, so I decided to establish an open dialogue with my boss, about what we can do better, not only in words but on paper, I came up with various solutions that she can think of, and adapt to the company.

What are the goals and key results you are aiming to achieve for the next quarter? How do you plan to achieve them?

I´m looking forward to growing apart from my boss, so my goals for the next month are:

  • Stablish my strengths and liabilities, so I can take advantage of them and also correct them.

  • Learn from others, in order to see what they do, and adapt it to my business model.

  • Make things happen. Do what needs to be done in order to accomplish my dreams as an independent worker.

-Attract new clients.

  1. What’s your profession? Describe it as detailed as possible.
I studied business administration. Nowadays, I am working in the human resources area, specializing in the “end to end” (E2E) processes for payroll. I provide solutions to my clients to save money and time.
First, I have to understand how my clients do their payroll process then, I have to create different ways to change processes to achieve the company´s objectives.
  2. What are your main duties and priorities at work?
As a leader, I ensure the correct pay to all workers from different clients that I have assigned and achieve payroll projects.
A good practice is when we analyze the KPI area as if we think to create strategies to improve results for our company.
  3. Have you had a challenging situation at work? If so, what was it and how did you handle it?
Yes, I had. Three years ago, when recently I had been promoted. My new team made a big mistake, someone didn’t follow the correct flow, and he paid workers incorrectly. Some received more money others received less. We had to check and pay correctly and then called workers to return the money or make them sign some documents to discount next month. In the end, we couldn’t recover all money, the company lost nine hundred dollars, but they didn’t fire me because I only had two weeks knowing the process and team.
  4. What are the goals and key results you are aiming to achieve for the next quarter? How do you plan to achieve them?
It´s time to delegate tasks. My team is doing a great job, I have efforted to teach processes and to give them confidence to ask me when they have doubts.
It´s difficult delegate, but I know I will have more time to focus on payroll projects to implement the new platform for taking control of medical break´s workers. My actions are contributing to not wasting money and ensuring returns money from government.

I am and industrial engineer, I am studying english now as if it was my new career, this is because I will live in Canadá next year so I need to speak as a native to get a better job.
I shall improve my skills in programming so I can find a better job in Canada.
I must practice so as to my life depend of it.

1.What’s your profession? Describe it as detailed as possible.
I am a Chilean journalist. At least in Chile, journalism is a very exigent profession. However, the more you work, the less you earn. Preparedness is almost inexistent, and the profession is in extreme need of reinventing itself. It´s no longer sustainable. Even if you did exceptionally well your job, you would be departed from your workplace more soon than later.

  1. What are your main duties and priorities at work?
Studying journalism was imposed to me. I did not want it, but it was the cheapest carrier to study. I would have rather to study a rentable technic carrier than journalism. However, by the time, prejudice against technic and technologic carriers was strong. Said that, I had worked in Chilean economic press and PR agencies before the pandemic. By the time, my priorities were doing the best, even if I didn´t like it. Now my priority is fixing the mistake committed 20 years ago, and open up to new life options and knowledges.

  2. Have you had a challenging situation at work? If so, what was it and how did you handle it?
Precarious conditions, low salaries, excessive working hours, few resting time, and violent bosses are common issues in journalism (suicides are common). If available, I would rather prefer to work with an educated boss with a low income, than with a monster in exchange of a better salary (which is not a great salary anyway). That´s the challenging (and normal) situation at work. But I have the responsibility of change that. That is why I am here. I will overcome this situation. I hope Platzi could help with my professional diversification, and I will help myself by passing current times with hard work. You are going my partner in this hard but inevitable work. So, as to speak, I expect only “blood, sweat and tears” for this whole year.

  3. What are the goals and key results you are aiming to achieve for the next quarter? How do you plan to achieve them?
My professional background (specially technology) needs an urgent improvement, as soon as possible. It´s true that I don´t have all the time in the world because I work too, but the modernization of my curriculum is inevitable. A programmer earns in a month as much as I earn in two years, and I work more hours. If I maintain the status quo, it would be worst for me. Last year, I needed a sincere analysis of my situation so as to be competitive in the future, and so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past, and the plan that resulted from that is both working and studying one year, repeating and repeating the curses, for acquire the knowledge necessary for to be competitive in the future. I need patience, so in the next quarter I expect to achieve tangible advances, tangible knowledge, and tangible compression of the world outside of the cave of old school journalism.

Overall, my work requires a deep understanding of the digital marketing landscape and the tools and platforms that are available to help businesses succeed online. • What is your profession? Describe it as detailed as possible
Right now I am studying mechatronic engineering, which means that I am not working right now but within 1 year I will have finished the degree. I would like to specialize and work in the automation field, specifically in programming. This type of programming is associated with PLC (programmable logic controller) so as to automate and streamline industrial processes.
  • What are your main duties and priorities at work?
Well, as a result, I am not working yet, I will answer the question according to my college experience. My main duties are to get a great academic performance, but I think this is not the final goal. A grade does not always mean knowledge. Regarding my priorities, as I mentioned before I like the field of automation so I try to focus and learn everything I can about it, it includes both theoretical and practical knowledge. I also try to make relationships with committed and hardworking people so as to have the right connections in the labor future.
Have you had a challenging situation at work? If so, what was it and how did you handle it?
Yes, I had. During the first three school quarters, I had been taught by a strict teacher who thought all of us knew about electronics. I had never taken an electronics class before, so it was quite difficult for me because at least most of the group knew the basics because they had taken classes in high school, opposite to me who decided to choose accounting as speciality back then. The way I handled it was by taking some online courses and videos, some of them from Platzi so as to adquire the basics and now my questions were more specific, which brings me to the point number two: always ask the question, no matter how embarrassing or dumb could seem to the classmates or professor. Getting alone with classmates who dominated this field also helped to understand it.
  • What are the goals and key results that you are aiming for the next quarter? How do you plan to achieve them?
Industrial Automation is one of the subjects which is coming this quarter and my goal is learn all that I can of it. I also looking fordward for the other subjects but I am specially eager for this one. I plan to get all this knowlegde by studying as I have been doing it, paying enough attention to the classes, asking emergent doubts to the teacher or classmates, doing correctly the practical activities, studying and putting in practice the knowledge adquired.

I am a software engineer, mainly specialized in backing development or server development. As my main duties, I have to develop microservices to fulfill
bussiness requirements. This development of microservices has to be made in concordance with the standars or best practices specified by the tech industry.
Alongside the microservices development, it’s fundamental to make as many test as possible, so as to find any non-considered bug in the code.
Avoiding those bugs at production level is a must, and makes you look as though you are the best developer from Sillicon Valley…

Have you had a challenging situation at work? If so, what was it and how did you handle it?

The main problem in my current job position is difficult customers, many times they refuse to leave the line because it is not possible to give them what they want, either because of preset restrictions or because what they want does not exist or is not valid. These scenarios are handled by requesting relevant help internally using our communication tools and waiting for instructions to complete the interaction in an orderly manner and following procedures according to quality guidelines.

What are the goals and key results you are aiming to achieve for the next quarter? How do you plan to achieve them?

My goals for the next quarter are to increase my knowledge in English and computer skills in order to be able to apply for higher positions that will allow me to use the knowledge acquired and not just stay as someone who answers calls; the way I plan to achieve those goals is to make the most of the courses related to my interests available here at platzi and take them to my company.
