Congratulations! You have completed the Introduction to Layer 2 Protocols course where you learned about the types and operation of these new decentralized technologies.
Course review
Throughout the course, you learned what second layer technologies are and how to interact with some of the main protocols that are making Ethereum more scalable, faster and cheaper. Let's take a look at a list of everything you learned:
- What is Layer 2?
- Origins of Layer 2
- Payment channels: Lightning Network
- How Sidechains work
- Types of Rollups: Optimists and zkRollups
- Combination of second layer protocols
- Obtaining funds at Layer 2 using bridges
- Swapping and interacting with DeFi instruments on L2
- Anonymity and privacy at Layer 2
- Arguments against Layer 2
What did you like most about Layer 2 technologies?
What to expect from Layer 2?
Layer 2 technologies are the current technological cutting edge within the blockchain world. There are really very few people in the world interested in learning these things and even fewer people capable of developing projects on these technologies. Learning them will give you a unique Web3 developer profile.
Layer 2 projects are on the rise. There is more and more investment in these technologies and no doubt they will continue to evolve in the future. In the near term, general-purpose zkRollups protocols will be the next step in the growth of this ecosystem.
The journey on second-layer protocols is just beginning for you. If you are a programmer, the Development Course on Second Layer Protocols on Ethereum will certainly be the next step you should take to go deeper into these technologies and develop smart contracts on top of them.
See you in the next course - never stop learning!
