I disagree with one of the answers, and I’d like someone to explain further: Question 6:

According to paragraph 4, what has recent research on obsidian tools found at Olmec sites shown?

A. Obsidian’s value was understood only when Teotihuacán became an important city.
B. The residents of Teotihuacán were sophisticated toolmakers.
C. The residents of Teotihuacán traded obsidian with the Olmecs as early as 400 B.C.
D. Some of the obsidian used by the Olmecs came from the area around Teotihuacán.

The paragraph clearly says “Teotihuacán obsidian must have been recognized as a valuable commodity for many centuries before the great city arose” eliminating option A.
And it also says : "recent research on obsidian tools found at Olmec sites has shown that some of the obsidian obtained by the Olmecs originated near Teotihuacán"
In my opinion, confirming option D.

Please explain how I’m wrong.

**Recommendations:** SKIM the general idea SCAN the information needed TIME yourself SUMMARIZE in your mind NOTES, take them KEEP MOVING even if you are unsure

Wow, the module really helped me a lot. My first score was 3/10 and the second one, after taking the classes, was 7/10. I obviously need to keep learning and practicing, but the improvement between one attempt and the other surprised me a lot. Thank you so much Professor Jess!

### **Things to do in the reading section** 1. **Skim for the general idea**: Get an overview of the passage quickly. 2. **Scan for specific information**: Look for keywords or details as needed. 3. **Manage your time**: Keep track of how much time you have per passage. 4. **Summarize in your mind**: Form mental summaries of the main points. 5. **Take notes**: Use any available method to jot down important ideas. 6. **Keep moving**: If unsure about a question, skip it and return later—don’t get stuck. ### **Things not to do in the reading section** 1. **Avoid detailed reading**: Reading every word takes too much time—focus on key parts. 2. **Don’t expect simple grammar**: The passages cover academic topics with complex structures. 3. **Don’t translate**: Translating will slow you down unnecessarily. 4. **Don’t aim to understand everything**: Focus on the main idea, not every detail. 5. **Never give up**: Stay positive, even if a passage seems challenging. ### **Practice simulations and improvement** * **First simulation**: Helped establish your baseline reading skills. * **Second simulation**: Measured improvement after practicing question types. * **Didn’t improve as expected?** * Review the classes again. * Repeat simulations to reinforce your skills. ### **Additional resources** * Explore the **resource section** for: * Practice activities. * Answer explanations. * Supplemental materials to deepen your understanding.
