¿Qué es el examen TOEFL?

El TOEFL, acrónimo de Test of English as a Foreign Language, es uno de los exámenes de inglés más reconocidos a nivel global.

Este examen evalúa la competencia en inglés de personas cuyo idioma nativo no es el inglés.

Es aceptado por más de 11,000 universidades e instituciones educativas en más de 160 países, convirtiéndose en una herramienta clave para estudiar o trabajar en el extranjero.

¿Quién administra el TOEFL?

El TOEFL es gestionado por Educational Testing Services (ETS), la organización sin ánimo de lucro más grande del mundo dedicada a la evaluación educativa.

ETS también ofrece otros exámenes, como:

GRE.
TOEIC.
HiSET.
Praxis.

Aunque ETS cuenta con una amplia gama de exámenes, en este curso nos enfocaremos exclusivamente en el TOEFL.

Opciones para tomar el TOEFL iBT

El examen TOEFL iBT se ofrece en dos modalidades para adaptarse a tus necesidades y preferencias.

Antes de elegir, asegúrate de consultar con las instituciones a las que deseas postularte para confirmar sus requisitos específicos.

1. Prueba en un centro de pruebas

Si prefieres un entorno de examen tradicional, los centros de pruebas son la mejor opción para ti.

Disponibilidad:
- Está disponible en miles de centros autorizados en todo el mundo.
Día del examen:
- Puedes ver un video sobre el proceso de registro y los procedimientos del día del examen en la sección "Qué esperar el día de la prueba".
Frecuencia:
- Se ofrece más de 170 veces al año.
Cómo buscar un centro de pruebas:
- Visita la página oficial para encontrar un centro cercano.

2. Prueba en el hogar

La edición TOEFL iBT Home Edition es idéntica al examen realizado en un centro, pero puedes tomarla desde la comodidad de tu hogar.

Disponibilidad:
- Disponible en todo el mundo.
Requisitos:
- Es importante cumplir con los requisitos de equipo y ambiente antes de registrarte.
Día del examen:
- Un supervisor en línea monitorizará la prueba para garantizar la seguridad y autenticidad del proceso.
Frecuencia:
- Disponible las 24 horas del día, 4 días a la semana.
- Puedes programar tu examen hasta 24 horas después de registrarte.
