¿Cómo expresar posibilidades pasadas con "podría" y "no podría"?

Tal vez te has dado cuenta de que no puedes cambiar lo que ya ha pasado, pero afortunadamente, el idioma inglés nos ofrece herramientas para reflexionar sobre posibles escenarios diferentes en el pasado. En el contenido de hoy, exploraremos cómo usar could have y couldn't have para expresar posibilidades pasadas en inglés. Permíteme guiarte a través de ejemplos claros y ayudarte a fortalecer tu comprensión.

¿Cuál es la estructura de "podría haber" y "no podría haber"?

Para formar oraciones que hablen de posibilidades del pasado, usamos la estructura: sujeto + could have o couldn't have + verbo en participio. Esta estructura te permitirá exponer situaciones hipotéticas o expresar un poco de arrepentimiento por decisiones pasadas.

¿Cómo las citas y ejemplos refuerzan el uso de "podría" y "no podría"?

Y un desafío: imagina situaciones donde completar las frases con could have o couldn't have:

  • "Yo podría haber sido un gran jugador de tenis si hubiera practicado más." Refleja un arrepentimiento por no haber aprovechado al máximo las oportunidades pasadas.
  • Él no podría haber ganado el concurso; era demasiado difícil. Resalta que no era posible ganar dada la dificultad.

¿Cómo puedes practicar la expresión de posibilidades pasadas?

Enfréntate a un reto: lista tres de tus mayores arrepentimientos y explica por qué no podrías haber hecho nada para cambiarlos.
