[Por ejemplo: “The film is directed by John Smith” (La película está dirigida por John Smith)](https://www.britishcouncil.es/blog/voz-pasiva-ingles). 2. [Por ejemplo: “He was arrested last night” (Fue detenido anoche)](https://www.britishcouncil.es/blog/voz-pasiva-ingles). 3. [Por ejemplo: “Smoking is not permitted” (No se permite fumar)](https://www.britishcouncil.es/blog/voz-pasiva-ingles). 4. [Por ejemplo: “Chocolate eggs are made with milk and cocoa” (Los huevos de chocolate se hacen con leche y cacao)](https://www.britishcouncil.es/blog/voz-pasiva-ingles)

📝 Here are my notes about this class. 📌 In the passive voice, the focus is on the action or the recipient of the action. **Structure** > Object + **is/are** + **verb in past participle** + complement (by + agent) 📢Agent is who performs the action, this is optional when using passive voice. **Examples** * (Active voice): The mechanic in the garage fixes the car. 🔎 The focus is on **the mechanic.** * (Passive voice): The car **is fixed** in the garage. 🔎The focus is on the **car**. * (Active voice): The company sends the boxes to the clients. 🔎The focus is on the **company**. * (Passive voice): The boxes are sent to the clients by the company. 🔎The focus is on the **boxes**. 💭Remember, regular verbs in their past participle form end with "-ed", but there are many irregular verbs that usually change completely in their past participle form. Here is a list with some of common irregular verbs: ![](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/82/3b/d2/823bd271a6c18d378e1708d3fd620596.jpg) I hope this comment will be useful 💜

Yes, those sentences are correct examples of passive voice sentences in the past participle form. 1. "The cars were sold to small clients by the dealer" uses the structure: subject (the cars) + verb to be (were) + past participle (sold). 2. "Many delicious dishes were made by the restaurant every day" follows the same structure with subject (dishes) + verb to be (were) + past participle (made). Both focus on the action done to the subjects rather than who performed the action, which is key in passive voice.
ACTIVE VOICE = The subject performs the action. \- A dog chased the ball PASSIVE VOICE = The subject "receives" the action. \- The ball was chased by a dog
