What have you learned in this English course?

Reaching the end of a course is always a cause for celebration, and this time is no exception. During this course, you have had the opportunity to explore various aspects of English that will be of great use to your communication skills. From understanding the subjunctive mood to dealing with special situations, here is a brief overview of what you have learned and what is expected of you at the end of the course.

How do you handle the subjunctive mood and verb tenses?

One of the first stops in this course was to understand the subjunctive mood and its fundamental difference from the verb tenses. By mastering this, you will not only be able to construct more complex sentences, but also better understand when and how to use each structure.

How to avoid common mistakes of native speakers?

Delving into the subtleties of native English is a journey in itself. This course guided you through the most common mistakes that even native speakers make. Beyond avoiding mistakes, you learned to find and learn new words, including those that are part of the slang, or jargon, that enriches your colloquial vocabulary.

What techniques did you use for effective communication?

The ability to communicate naturally was reflected in exercises that involved:

  • Clarifying ideas
  • Making assumptions
  • Using minimal pairs to improve pronunciation

In addition, you also learned to use English in celebratory and empathetic situations such as congratulating and expressing condolences.

What is the final project and how does it integrate what you have learned?

Finally, it's time to put it all into practice! The final project of this course not only aims to evaluate your progress, but also to allow you to have fun with the language. It is about telling a funny story as if you were at an informal gathering with friends. While doing so, you should incorporate:

  • Subjunctive mood
  • Common native mistakes
  • Slang
  • Clarifications and assumptions
  • Congratulations and expressions of sympathy

How should you complete the project?

To complete this project, here are some practical tips:

  1. Record your story: be sure to use all the elements learned and record it. Practicing out loud is key to improving.

  2. Share your work: Don't just keep it; share it in the comments section or on social media. Remember that feedback is invaluable for growth.

  3. Take the test: This last step will help you check what you have learned and see where you can improve.

Finally, remember that learning a language is a continuous experience. Keep moving forward, and see you in the next course!

Este curso es una fregonería!!!! Gracias por hacerlo y el profesor es muuuuuuuuy bueno
<https://voca.ro/1dQIVgcBI5WX> Okay, okay guys, lemme tell you who I’m dating now, okay? I met this hot [**chick**](), blonde, tall, and super funny at Peggy’s, she used to work there. I ordered a double-cheese burger with fries and a strawberry milkshake. After a while, she was back with my food, but there was a mistake, the milkshake wasn’t strawberry, it was chocolate. So, I told her “[**I reckon there’s a mistake on my order, I asked for a strawberry milkshake**]() ”. She said that **there was a misunderstanding in the kitchen** and was gonna bring the correct one. That’s when I asked her out. She brought the milkshake, and I said, “Hey, I know this is going to be weird, but would you like to go out someday?”. As expected, she said “no”. Who was going to go out with a completely stranger? But the story didn’t end there. Some day Monday morning, I was staying at my grandma’s, I was walking her dog and watering the plants. It turns out that she lives in the area, around the block. As soon as I saw her, I tried to catch her attention, but she just looked so sad, at that point I realized it was better to give up on her and leaver her alone, but I’m so stubborn to follow my instincts. So, I went to talk to her and know what was wrong. After a while of chatting, she said that her cat ate her little canary. I gave her my condolences saying, “[**I’m so sorry, losing a pet is never easy, if you need someone to talk to, I’m here, okay?**]()” and after that, we became sort of friends, you know? We’ve been hanging out and man, she’s something else. Definitely. Well now telling you more about her, I remember when we were at her parents’, having dinner, and I was talking with her dad, he told me that he just got a promotion at work, so I told him [**“Good for you!**]() ”, but instead of sounding like a congratulation, it sounded sarcastic, and now her dad hates me so much. Obviously, I tried to explain that I didn’t mean it in that way, but it was too late. I even had to repeat it to him because with my first shot of congratulating, a “[**come again**]() ?” was said, doing the situation worst[**. I wish you were there to see my** ]()**face,** I was so embarrassed.
Here is my final exercise. A conversation between 2 people that merges all the topics covered on this course: <https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l5hHMbaeFMqBAcgs8_aPI41I4Kz5gv1Q/view?usp=sharing> Your feedback is welcome!
