Hi Platzi mates!

Where do you live?

🏦I live in Soacha-Cundinamarca next to Bogotá

What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?

🌄I recommend visiting the wetlands of my city, one of the most beautiful is ‘Neuta wetland’ or our archaeological sites, also the city center.

Why do you recommend visiting those places?

Because are places all of life, history, and interesting. In third place, died Luis Carlos Galán former presidential candidate of Colombia.
We are rich in the history of our ancestors, and we can watch wonderful animals.
Rock art is one of the craziest things that we can see now.

Hello everyone!

Where do you live?
I live in Quito, Ecuador.

What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
Quito was declare the first World Heritage by UNESCO, Here you can visit the Historic Centre of Quito, Another place you can visit is the middle of the world where you can do different activities.

Why do you recommend visiting those places?
In Historic Centre of Quito has conserved its original configuration, new constructions being built outside of the colonial centre. Indeed, based on the first plan of Quito designed in 1734.the urban is considered as entirely authentic, the original form has remained unaltered and the Plaza Mayor (Main Square) has developed organically with very few changes.

In the middle of the world you can visit the monument but something happen there,The monument is impressive, or at the very least, grandiose in appearance. But it has been confirmed to be misplaced, approximately 240 meters from the actual equator line. This is a reason to visit the Intinam Museum, where gives visitors an ethnographic history or the regions of Ecuador. Here you can balance an egg standing up on a nail its very funny and walk between the equatorial line and feel the forces of each hemisphere.

Hi Everyone!
I live in Seattle Washington, in the United States. I have been living here since January 2018. Seattle is one of the cities in the Pacific North West. Is well know because is a city surrounded by lakes, mountains and is very green. Seattle is the home to many tech industries like Boeing, Amazon, and Microsoft, which have their headquarters here. Seattle’s weather is not extreme, In winter we don’t usually have too much snow and the summer is not too hot. Actually, it rains a lot but the rain is not heavy.

I really love taking pictures of the city! I created this Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/pretty_seattle/ to post them! so if you want to visit my city someday you can get many ideas from this page!

Seattle is recognized for the Space Needle. It is considered as the icon of the city and is very close to downtown.

Seattle has so many places for a tourist, like the Pike Place Market, which is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers’ markets in the United States!

Also the Seattle’s Freemont Troll. Here, they filmed the movie “10 things I hate about you!” What I recommend a lot

I really recommend coming to Seattle! Is a beautiful city, with many things to do, very close to wonderful mountains where you can go hiking and camping. Spring is beautiful, the city has so many flowers and cherry blossoms trees! so is a great destination!

finally the tulip festival in April!

Thanks for reading! I know your cities are great too! Bye!

Where do you live?

I live in Toluca, State of Mexico. 🇲🇽

What places do you recommend to visit in your city? and Why do you recommend visiting those places?

Toluca is a city where many history has been lost, many years ago, the government decided to rebuilt the city and they demolished many colonial buildings.
🕍 In fact, our cathedral was built in the 60’s - 70’s, in what used to be a Franciscan convent, which makes it the newest cathedral in Mexico. The architect kept some of the original building and gave it the look of an older church, which makes it very beautiful when you come inside.
🌿 So, it’s not a historic nor an old city, but some things that could be rescued was a flower market that now is a botanical garden with many beautiful murals of glass, it is the most iconic building in the city and it’s called the “Cosmovitral”. On the afternoons you can see the sun entering through the glasses and giving a nice light.
🏔 Also, one of my favorite places to go is the volcano Xinantecatl or as it’s also known “El Nevado” (The snowed one, because it used to be snowed all year long, but with the climate change nowadays you only see it with snow sometimes in winter.) I like it because it’s near the city, you can go by car to the highest point which is outside the crater, then you walk up to the top and then come inside the crater. You need a very good condition because the way up is very demanding and you can faint if you don’t take your time. Even it’s challenging, the view and the experience worth every effort.
⚽️ The last place I would like to recommend, is the Stadium Nemesio Diez. If you’re a fan of the soccer, it worths visiting the “Bombonera”, as we locals call it. A few years ago it was rebuilt and they give it the european-stadium style. You can go to a match on Sundays at midday, the streets near-by get a red color from all the fans cheering and having a good time.

Where do you live?
Puebla
What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?

  1. Cholula Pyramid
  2. Loreto and Guadalupe Forts
  3. Downtown
Why do you recommend visiting those places?
The Cholula pyramid is the biggest pyramid in the world taking into account the base. It has a very long perimeter and it is kind of hard to reach the summit, where you can have a beautiful Cholula city.
The forts are also a great place to have beautiful views of the capital city of Puebla, this is the place where happened the famous May 5th Battle of Puebla, where the not-so-well army of Mexico fights against the French army.
Finally, the downtown is a great place where you can find distinctive colonial architecture, a lot of museums, and the most important, the food! Puebla is at least, top 3 of Mexico states with the best and most varied delicious food in the country; you can eat chalupas, pozole, tacos arabes, chiles en nogada, mole poblano, etc etc etc 😄

I live in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia.
What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
La Candelaria
Cerro Monserrate
Jardín Botánico de Bogotá José Celestino Mutis.
Why do you recommend visiting those places?

  • I recommend you go to La Calendaria because it is a nice place to go for a walk. You can find museums, restaurants, stores, historical places, and good views.
  • Cerro Monserrate, you can hike on the hill, this could take two hours or three hours or take the cableway, you can see all of Bogotá.
  • Jardín Botánico de Bogotá José Celestino Mutis.
This park is one of my favorites because the ticket is cheap.
Some days it has festivals. The tickets are a little bit more expensive, but it worth it because it is very nice the expositions that they make. This place is for the people that like botanic and go out and chill sometimes.

Where do you live?
I live in San Rafael abajo of Desamparados. Desamparados is a city of San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.

What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
In my city there aren’t places to go to visit, because it is an industrial zone, you only can find a lot of offices. But, this is not bad, because we have other towns near that you can find good places to go. For example, you can go and visit"Prusia, it is a big nursery in Cartago. That place has a lot of fauna and flora, you can go hiking, taking pictures and spend time with nature.Another must-visit near from Prusia is El sanatorio. El Sanatorio was a hospital for people with leprosy, that now it is close and you can go to see the awesome views that the place has.

Why do you recommend visiting those places?
I recommend visiting these places because are places where I go frequently, are secure places, you can have fun with your friends without any fear, the place is near the capital and last but not least because the travel has amazing views.

I live, currently, in Monagrillo(12,385 pop. as 2010), one of the five subdivisions of Chitré, the capital of Herrera. Herrera is one of the two main provinces that belongs to the Peninsula of Azuero, where the arc dry of Panama is located.

In the Peninsula of Azuero there are many places to visit. People who live here move freely between the two provinces (Chitré and Los Santos) like they were one province, but don’t tell this to them, 'cause they are very regionalist, and mostly when it comes to sports, mainly baseball!

Next, some places to visit while passing by:

parque-mongrillo.jpg
Monagrillo’s Central Park:
As you may see, most of the architecture around is from colonial times, hence the beauty of most of the tourist places around.

Restaurante-Dona-Julia-Chitre-Panamá-©-Viaje-Comigo.jpg
Restaurant Doña Julia:
A very famous local place to eat local food.

PLAYA-EL-AGALLITO.jpg
Bonus - Roadway to Agallito Beach:
It’s not exactly “in” Monagrillo, but it’s near by. This is a whole new roadway that runners, cyclers, skaters and family can use to do exercises or simply walk with the family. Just do it before 5pm, because due to it’s close to the mangrove swamp mosquitoes are a thing hehe.

Guessing game. Which is my city?
My city has many universities, it’s located in a valley, in my opinion is beautiful, interesting. it’s a medium-sized city, with two airports, many libraries, development centers. However, it’s not perfect, it’s very noisy, small in expansion space, with a lot of traffic, busy and crowded. But as @JamieDuran says in the class that is attached to this challenge of the day, “colorful would be another word that we can use to describe my city” and lately it has been raining every day in my city.
Do you know what city it’s? Have you ever visited it? Could you insert an Image this place visited?

I live in Cali (La Sucursal del Cielo) and I recommend visit in my city:

  • The tutelary hills, are a mountain from where you can see the entire city. They are usually very crowded to exercise or people visit them at Easter. In addition, at night in the surroundings of Cristo Rey, you can go to eat in many places and enjoy the lights of the city.
  • San Antonio is a place where there is a church and around there is a park, where you can go to share with your friends, have a picnic, eat in a restaurant, enjoy the city breeze and maybe listen to a story told by a storyteller. It’s a good place for a change of scenery and it also has a breathtaking view of the city.

Day #12
Hello everyone
I am from Mexico and I live in the city of Puebla. It has a rich cultural heritage and has witnessed important events in Mexican history.

  1. The historic center and the cathedral of the city of Puebla1.-El-centro-histórico-y-la-catedral-de-la-ciudad-de-Puebla-1.jpg
The historic center is full of many colonial builders.Since it began to be formed in the 1530s in which it would become one of the most important colonial cities in Hispanic America. The construction history of the Puebla Cathedral in this work is divided into three blocks: from 1575 to 1639; from 1640 until its consecration in 1649; and from 1650 until the completion of the south tower in 1768. Around the cathedral there are many restaurants with typical Puebla food, such as the tipico mole or in its season Chiles en Nogada.
  2. San Pedro Cholula
This is a magical town and one of its greatest attractions is its Great Pre-Hispanic Pyramid, called Tlachihualtépetl, with a basement of about 16 thousand square meters, which is the largest in the world in this type of building.2.-San-Pedro-Cholula.jpg
  3. Los barrios poblanos
Analco was founded in 1531 by a community of Tlaxcala Indians who settled on one of the banks of the San Francisco River, although the place soon gained its colonial atmosphere due to the intervention of the Spanish.
The Artist’s Quarter is a space in the historic center frequented by bohemian people and linked to art. Its vital center is the square where local artists paint and display their works.4.-Los-barrios-poblanos.jpg
Of course there are many more places to visit such as the Angelopolis area that has the Baroque museum, the Puebla star and many parks. Also the historical area, is called Fuertes de Loreto ", here you learn .too about the battle of 5 de Ma2collage.-crop (1).jpgyo If you want to visit the city of Puebla you have to try the typical food and sweets.

Now, I want to visit all places that you are sharing here. 😃
There are many places that I like.

Where do you live?
I live in Panama

What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
I recommend that you visit the Panama Canal, Panama Viejo,
Causeway Amador, and Biomuseo.

Why do you recommend visiting those places?

Panama Canal It is the most important build that has Panama. Is a place to appreciate the construction that humans did in 1903.
Without using machines like those used for large constructions today.

Panama Viejo holds many memories about the city that suffered a number of fires in 1586 by Pirates.

I Live in the city of Santiago de Querétaro in the state of Querétaro, México.

What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
I recommend you to visit the downtown of the city, it has a colonial style, and you enjoy walking around its parks. There are a lot of places there like restaurants, bars, museums, tram tours, where you can have a good time and to know more about the history of the city. You have to visit Queretaro´s Aqueduct, it has 74 arches.
You should visit too the craft beer factory “Hercules”, which is a brewery with open spaces where you will have a great time.
There are other places near to the city that you can visit like Peña de Bernal, the cheese and wine route.

Because they are places where you can have a great time enjoying the food, the weather, all the different activities in the city with your family, and if you have more time you can visit other places near to the city like Jalpan, Amealco, San Joaquin with beautiful landscapes (these are municipalities of the state of Queretaro).

I love in San Pedro Sula, a small city in Honduras, even though is the second most importat and big city here in my country, it’s still small compared with other cities in latam.

What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
Well, to tell you the truth, we don’t have many interesting places here, but of course the countrry does. Instead of coming to my city, which is like any other city other, I’d recommend you to go to the Bay Islands, that place is simply amazing.
You must go one day.

Why do you recommend visiting those places?

I live in Bogotá close to the “El Campin” stadium.

I definitely recommend visiting downtown. It is an area full of history and culture, but the most incredible thing is that it is very diverse. It is common to see people make shows in the streets, at “el Chorro de Quevedo”. Recently the new cinematheque was inaugurated, there you can find many pieces of cinematographic art. Then you can go to “la Puerta falsa” one of the oldest restaurants in the country (nearly 200 years of existence) and have a typical “capitalino” lunch.

In downtown also you can find many museums. For example, one of the most important is “Museo del oro” which tell the story of our or ancestors the Muisca People. There is also “El Museo Nacional” where you can see different pieces of art.

Finally, next to the Tadeo University there is a theater call “Teatrova”. It is a magic place, it’s urban art. The perfect place to go with friends, see an independent play and then chat with the actors over a beer.

And by the way, it has the best view of the city!

Where do you live?
I live in Bogota, the capital city of Colombia.
What places do you recommend visiting in your city/town?
I recommend that you visit the museums, we have very interesting museums like the Gold Museum, the costume museum (That is also the house where Manuelita Saenz lived), Botero Museum of the republic bank, among others. You also can visit Monserrate, which is a church on the top of a mountain, you can climb the mountain walking or using the cableway. And of course, you can’t visit a place without taste its principal foods, to do this I recommend that you go to the restaurant La Puerta Falsa, which is also the most antique restaurant in the country. If you want to visit a place with nature you can go to the Parque Nacional Natural Sumapaz, this is one of the richest places in genera and species of Colombian flora.
Why do you recommend visiting those places?
Because are places where you can learn about history, taste new flavors and see beautiful things.

Hello! 😃
I tell you about the city when I live.

I live in Mérida. It’s the capital city of Yucatán. You can find it in the southeast of México, in the Caribbean Sea. It’s a beautiful, safe, lively and colorful city. It’s called “Ciudad Blanca” because is one of the best citys to vacation and live. It’s synonimous of cultur, history and traditions. By the way, the weather is sunny and hot almost all of the year.

The places you must visiting in Merida are:

  1. Walk through Historical Center: The city has beatiful and colonial buildings like teathers, hotels, univerties, parks, etc. Also, you can visit the famous church, The Catedral.
  1. Go to one of the beaches (Progreso, Sisal, Celestún, etc.): There are many beaches to visit near to Merida. You can swim in the beach, walk through pier and eat delicious sea food. If you lucky, you can see flamingos near to beach.
  1. Visit the Homeland Monument: It’s located on Paseo de Montejo in one of the avenues most important of the city. The monument was made by sculptor Romulo Rozo in 1956, who through this piece shows an important part of Mexico’s history from the founding of Tenochtitlan until mid-twentieth century.

I live in Asunción, Paraguay. This is a picture I took from downtown during a rainy day:

photo_2021-03-29_12-28-27.jpg

This is the capitol city, but I consider it small for a capitol… Well, Paraguay itself is a small country xD. Places to visit are mostly historical or well-known bars and restaurants. One of these places is “El Bolsi”, a traditional and nice restaurant in downtown. It’s my favorite place and I go there a few times during the month, even if it’s only for a quick drink or some empanadas:
bolsi.jpg
It has a wide range of prices, from cheap to very expensive, gourmet menús. Bolsi also has the more fancy section, which is the restaurant. Clearly I go to the bar and common area.

Another place worth mentioning is the “Palacio De López” is also here in capitol, close to the port. It was the goverment’s palace during the Colonial Era and after the independence. It has been rebuilt a few years back and now is open to the public again. A true display of colonial architecture.
