++Intermediate++ What are the most important features of Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana and Bixby. Do some research in Google and write the 3 main characteristics of each.

1. IFTTT (If this then that): It can establish routines with a single command. For example, You say good morning and the lights turn on, and then in the speakers is brief of the news of the day and finally, it makes your coffee.
2. Driving: In the "past" you have to put Waze or google maps and if you're listening to a song that you don't want to hear at the moment you have to pick your phone and changed it. Now you say the "keyword" and next song and it's done.
3. In some countries: One can make a reservation at a restaurant or hotel. Even the google assistant in the pixel phones (Google-owned) in the US can answer the calls for you, and it will detect if they're spam or not.

In my next vacation, I will like go to Argentina, because I will like to experience the cold of winter when here in Mexico it is summer hehehe

Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana and Bixby are voice assistance, normally all of these have similar features nevertheless their performance depend on how it is integrated with your most common used applications. The first important difference is the company than create the device as it will permit integrate better the applications used by each user, Alexa come from Amazon, Siri from Apple, Google assistance from Google, Cortana from Windows and Bixby from Samsung. Google assistance has very good performance on the devices and spearks like google home mini, understand very weel to the speaker or can predict some missed words. Cortana is the least in the assistances list according with performance, the integration is very limited nevertheless windows are trying to improve faster. Alexa has great integrations, requires some customization than permit work great, in LATAM the amazon devices are not so popular, for that reason Alexa could not be as popular than Google assitance. Siri made a great job on apple devices, high integration and great voice recognition.

Perhaps something to think is the privacity, how it is handled? how can we be protected? some people saids than start to receive special offers of something that was talked only in a private conversations in the living room. perhaps it is only paranoia

Intermediate Hi there! What was your reaction about article we read about Alexa? The fact that discover how people can be affected by an apparent simple situation is something important to think about. Well, as part as the research we have to do about virtual assistants, these are the uses are given to them:

• Alexa: This virtual assistant belongs to Amazon and it was developed to work together with all "Echo" systems (also they belong to Amazon). In other words, Alexa system makes "Echo" systems have an intelligent behaviour and they interact with human voice as remote control. The engines that are used by Alexa to work are mainly Amazon engines, as Amazon marketplace and its services (Prime, Music, Kindle) and also supports other apps around entertainment like You Tube, Spotify and intelligent devices as indoor/outdoor cameras.

• Siri: To me, Siri was the first contact with virtual assistants because I used to have an iPhone but in these time, I didn't use it. It belongs to Apple and works with all devices of the company. All apps and devices in Apple devices can be operated by Siri, but you don't have the possibility to use Siri with external apps or devices. This is a limitant of Siri functionality

• Google Assistant: Avoiding the problem Alexa and Siri have, Google assistant could be free of guilty. It belongs to Google and as the same Siri and Alexa, it works with apps and devices of Google, but here's a trick because the most important integration of Google Assistant is the web browser, in this case, Chrome. Almost every device that connect itself on the internet can have Chrome as a default web browser and Google Assistant could be used then in almost every device for that reason

• Cortana: The most important companies around the world that work with technology stuff must explore the same tools its competitors use. In this case, Microsoft developed Cortana inspired by a virtual assistant of a videogame called Halo. Cortana is an AI who helps Master Chief to acomplish missions in the game and well, Cortana helps us in the same way in the real life. As same as Google, Microsoft works with its apps and devices including Cortana. The difference with Google is that Microsoft adds Cortana even in its operating system, Windows. To me as a user of Windows, it is annoying and always deactivate Cortana service hahaha.

• Bixby: The story repeats again but these time with another big company, Samsung. As all virtual assistants we have reviewed, this one works with apps and devices Samsung has. I could say in the same way that Alexa or Siri. Bixby has a strong integration with Samsung devices functions and uses AI to remember and try to preddict routines, actions and behaviours of its users

The conclution is services are very similar. The difference is about the devices and what a confortable they make us feel with devices and apps we use to have.

Hi guys, this is my opinion for today's challenge for intermediate level.

I think that all of these assistants can help you with different kind of activities. But it depends on how much private you want to keep in your phone or device. Most of them, help you to open your apps, also they can help you to find places to entretaint, maybe control your music, not only in your device but your house too. Something cool that only 2 of them can do, far as i know... They can help you to automate some common chores.

Having a personal assistant in the past were a luxury, but thanks to technology and AI we can have our own in a digital form. The first form of virtual assistant was introduced in 1994 by IBM, but Apple was the first to introduce a modern digital assistant, Siri, since then there have been many virtual assistants in the market, and here they are with three of its most important skills in my opinion.

Siri: Is the first ever virtual assistant with a human-like voice, launched by Apple in 2011.

1. Privacy and Security, As with everything Apple does it stores encrypted personal data on the device.
2. Translate, Siri translate conversations in real-time.
3. It works best with iOS devices.

Cortana: It is probably the most used digital assistant considering that it is integrated to Windows10, launched by Microsoft in 2014.

1. Open Windows 10 Apps With Your Voice.
2. Can analyse your speech and customise her language.
3. Join a meeting in Microsoft Teams or find out who your next meeting is with, also manage your calendar and keep your schedule up to date.

Alexa: It is different from other AIs because it works in many devices (personal and home appliances and perform most of the tasks that other AIs can), launched by Amazon in 2014.

1. Alexa Guard, Turns the device into a security device which will notify you when it hears anything suspicious, like a glass breaking.
2. Best AI for household.
3. Voice training feature that lets Alex respond to all family members.

Google Assistant: It works on Android and iOS and It is so far the smartest in understanding the context of the commands, launched by Google in 2016.

1. Can identify different voices.
2. Access information from your calendars and other personal information.
3. Find your phone, you can ask it where your phone is and it will ring your phone, this works even when your phone is on silent or Do Not Disturb mode.

Bixby: It is the latest assistant on the market, but Samsung, its manufacturer, is adding more features way quicker than its competitors, launched by Samsung in 2017.

1. A hardware button on the side of the device to bring up Bixby.
2. Bixby can edit your photographs.
3. Bixby Vision makes the best of augmented reality. It can help you try on makeup products, translate texts to foreign languages.

Siri: (2011) A Virtual Assistant who Works in Apple iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch), doesn't work well with Gmail. Use Wi-Fi or Mobile data to connect to Internet. The ways to interact with her is Type out and Voice Commands.

Cortana (2014) A virtual Assistant who works with all Microsoft devices, doesn't work well with YouTube. Use Wi-Fi or Mobile data to connect to Internet. The ways to interact with her is Type out and Voice Commands.

Alexa (2014) A virtual Assistant who works with Amazon Fire tablets, Fire Sticks and the echo Devices. Doesn't work well with YouTube. Use only Wi-Fi to connect to Internet. The ways to interact with her is Type out(in Silent Echo) and Voice Commands.

Google Assistant (2016) A virtual Assistant who works with Google Apps, Chromecast, Google Home & other Google devices. Works well with all third-party apps. Use Wi-Fi or Mobile data to connect to Internet. The ways to interact with her is Type out and Voice Commands.

Bixby (2017) A virtual Assistant who works with Samsung devices. Started working with third-party apps in 2018. Use Wi-Fi or Mobile data to connect to Internet. The ways to interact with her is Type out and Voice Commands.

In generally all these AIs can do for you:

• Can wake up on time

• Make calls (useful during driving)

• Tell you what time it is

• Identify the track playing in the car

• Pull up all the songs of your favorite artist

• Make reservations

• Launch others apps on the phone

• Read emails and find specific emails as per sender or date

• Perform calculations

• Navigation

• Take notes

• Send messages and read text messages

• Give news updates

• Post to social media

• track flight and packages

• Perform conversions

• Find fun facts

• Check Weather

In summary I can say that all Virtual Assistants are very similar, the differences between one to one is the creators (brands) and obvious the devices where they works, they are create to works in their own brand devices. Also according I read some may give better results for a specific use, for example: Google is better for look info, Alexa is better for Smart Home, etc. Personally after read about all the features and uses that You can use with these AIs, I'm wasting these options on my Siri and Alexa devices. I just set alarms, reminders (on Siri) and with Alexa is probably the AI that I use a little more.
