it is not the same saying: I lived in mexico than saying I have lived in mexico in past simple we refer to something that already happened: maybe I lived in mexico in my childhood and this is already finished but in Present perfect we refer to something that we have done in a moment of our lives: I have lived in mexico in one point of my life and sometimes it is not finished yet; I have lived in mexico since my childhood
