Geek normalmente se usa para hacer referencia a personas que les gusta la tecnología de una manera muy fuerte. Aunque según UrbanDictionary no es solamente para personas con gusto por la tecnología, sino, para referirse a cualquier persona muy apasionada por algo:

One who passionately engages in one or more things to extreme levels. A commonly ascribed term to people in the field of computer programming, but one does not have to be in a technical field to be a geek.
