AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design (Glossary) ☁

  • Azure AD B2B - Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) business-to-business (B2B) collaboration lets you securely share your company’s applications and services with guest users from any other organization, while maintaining control over your own corporate data.

  • Azure AD B2C – an independent service for building consumer application identity repository. Azure AD B2C is an independent service for building a consumer application identity repository. If you need a service to handle email or Facebook login – it is there for you.

  • Azure AD - Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is Microsoft’s cloud-based identity and access management service, which helps your employees sign in and access resources in external resources, such as Microsoft Office 365, the Azure portal, and thousands of other SaaS applications and internal resources, such as apps on your corporate network and intranet, along with any cloud apps developed by your own organization.

  • Azure ADDS - Azure Active Directory Domain Services (Azure AD DS) provides managed domain services such as domain join, group policy, lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP), and Kerberos / NTLM authentication that is fully compatible with Windows Server Active Directory.

  • Azure API - Azure API Management is a fully managed service that enables customers to publish, secure, transform, maintain, and monitor APIs. API gateway providing a simplified and secure façade for serverless Azure resources such as Service Bus queues and topics, Azure storage, and others.

  • Azure Automation - Azure Automation is a new service in Azure that allows you to automate your Azure management tasks and to orchestrate actions across external systems from right within Azure.

  • Azure Cognitive Services - Azure Cognitive Services are APIs, SDKs, and services available to help developers build intelligent applications without having direct AI or data science skills or knowledge. The goal of Azure Cognitive Services is to help developers create applications that can see, hear, speak, understand, and even begin to reason.

  • Azure Container Registry - Azure Container Registry is a managed, private Docker registry service based on the open-source Docker Registry 2.0. Use Azure container registries with your existing container development and deployment pipelines or use Azure Container Registry Tasks to build container images in Azure.

  • Azure Container Instances - Azure Container Instances is a service that enables a developer to deploy containers on the Microsoft Azure public cloud without having to provision or manage any underlying infrastructure.

  • Azure Cosmos db - Azure Cosmos DB is Microsoft’s proprietary globally-distributed, multi-model database service “for managing data at planet-scale” launched in May 2017. It is schema-agnostic, horizontally scalable and generally classified as a NoSQL database.

  • Azure Data Factory - The Azure Data Factory service is a fully managed service for composing data storage, processing, and movement services into streamlined, scalable, and reliable data production pipelines.

  • Azure Event Grid - Azure Event Grid is a messaging service built to enable event-based architectures to be built more easily. At the basic level it’s similar to a message queue service, like Azure Service Bus Topics, that enables a publish / subscribe model. However, the similarity really ends there.

  • Azure Event Hub - Azure Event Hubs is a big data streaming platform and event ingestion service. It can receive and process millions of events per second. Data sent to an event hub can be transformed and stored by using any real-time analytics provider or batching/storage adapters.

  • Azure Functions - Azure Functions is a solution for easily running small pieces of code, or “functions,” in the cloud. You can write the code you need for the problem at hand, without worrying about a whole application or the infrastructure to run it.

  • Azure Key Vault - Microsoft Azure Key Vault is a cloud-hosted management service that allows users to encrypt keys and small secrets by using keys that are protected by hardware security modules (HSMs). Small secrets are data less than 10 KB like passwords and .PFX files.

  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) - is a managed container orchestration service, based on the open source Kubernetes system, which is available on the Microsoft Azure public cloud. An organization can use AKS to deploy, scale and manage Docker containers and container-based applications across a cluster of container hosts.

  • Azure Logic Apps - Azure Logic Apps is a cloud service that helps you schedule, automate, and orchestrate tasks, business processes, and workflows when you need to integrate apps, data, systems, and services across enterprises or organizations. … Process and route orders across on-premises systems and cloud services.

  • Azure Serverless - Azure serverless compute KEDA is an open-source component that enables containers to process events directly from event sources and it provides the ability to scale to zero.

  • Azure Service Bus - Microsoft Azure Service Bus is a fully managed enterprise integration message broker. Service Bus can decouple applications and services. Service Bus offers a reliable and secure platform for asynchronous transfer of data and state.

  • Azure Service Fabric - Azure Service Fabric is a distributed systems platform that makes it easy to package, deploy, and manage scalable and reliable micro-services and containers.

  • Hybrid Identity - Microsoft’s identity solutions span on-premises and cloud-based capabilities, creating a single user identity for authentication and authorization to all resources, regardless of location. This concept is known as Hybrid Identity.

  • MongoDB - MongoDB is a cross-platform document-oriented database program. Classified as a NoSQL database program, MongoDB uses JSON-like documents with schema. MongoDB is developed by MongoDB Inc. and licensed under the Server Side Public License.

  • Redis Cache - Redis is an open source, feature rich, in-memory database and caching engine that can be used to store and retrieve data in your applications. Azure Redis Cache is based on this popular database, providing a powerful and secure way to cache your application’s data in the Azure cloud.
