Sharing knowledge can be the catalyst you need to elevate your career in the tech world. Leomaris Reyes' story illustrates how the decision to spread what she knew transformed her journey from day-to-day at work to being recognized internationally with a Microsoft MVP award. Start by considering knowledge as a seed: by sharing it, it grows not only in you, but in all those who receive it.
One of the first steps is to stop underestimating what you know. You may think your knowledge is small, but there will always be someone who needs just what you know. Your experience and perspective are unique. Allow yourself to see the value of what you have to offer and share it with the knowledge that you will help others and, in the process, help yourself grow.
Many people end up being known for nothing in particular because they try to do too much. Focusing on a specific area makes you stand out and be remembered for your specialty. Being an "all-rounder" can dilute your impact. Find what you are passionate about and make it your flagship. This focus will not only make it easier to elevate your career, but will also allow others to associate you with a particular specialty, opening doors to specialized opportunities.
The concept of community is vital. Think crowd: Platzi is a great example of a community where you can integrate and share what you know. Don't just hope that what you are offered is enough. If you find a gap, fill it. Create or integrate what is missing. Be the change you want to see in your environment. Do it with passion and a mindset of contribution, that will not only grow your career, but enrich your environment.
The motivation must be genuine - do something for love and not for rewards. Sharing knowledge driven by authentic passions strengthens your connection with others and ensures genuine and sustained growth. While rewards are valuable recognition, genuine fulfillment and the impact you generate should be your primary guide.
Sharing knowledge not only raises your professional profile, but can also lead to important recognition and unique opportunities. Leomaris is one of the few references as a woman in technology in the Dominican Republic recognized as a Microsoft MVP for four consecutive years. The impact is not limited to recognition, but also includes job enhancements, scholarships and other awards such as GDE and MPV.
Inspire and guide exactly as you would want them to inspire and guide you. Not only will this enrich your interactions and the value of your contributions, but it will strengthen your professional connections. When you help, you help yourself. Explaining in detail, without taking things for granted, creates accessible and meaningful content, substantially elevating your influence and career.
In the end, the key is continuous learning and the courage to share what you already know - don't stop, keep sharing and grow with your community!
