Indefinite pronouns are used to refer to people, places, or things in a general way, without specifying exactly who or what they are. When we use indefinite pronouns with the prefix “every,” they refer to all members of a group. These pronouns are:
- Everyone refers to all people in a group.
- Everything refers to all things in a group.
- Everywhere refers to all places in a group.
Examples:
- Everyone in the meeting was laughing.
- Everything on the table is going to be used for the event.
- Everywhere in the city is busy during rush hour.
Indefinite pronouns always take a singular verb.
- “Everything is great.”
