The Heart of South American Football

It's well known worldwide that South Americans are very passionate about gastronomy, football, music, mate and, of course, sharing them with tourists.

So I'll write a bit about football, the sport that probably more than 50% of South Americans love. We export the best talents primarily to Europe, then to North America and Asia. Football is definitely more popular than any other sport here.

Sometimes it's really sad when you see a young talent leave your favorite local team at a very young age, knowing that they might not return again after a few decades of playing in those places I mentioned, but that's how the football business works I guess. The atmosphere in local stadiums is not the same as in European ones - ours has a different kind of passion.

What I personally believe is a mistake from the South American teams is to sell their talent too young. If the federations paid the clubs better through TV contracts and marketing deals, the local teams would be able to keep their young talent a little bit longer rather than transfer them too early. I like watching our local players more than seeing them go abroad so soon. Making South American tournaments more attractive to watch worldwide could be just as life-changing for the players and their families as moving to Europe, and certainly better for the teams that developed the talent.

I hope that in the future the South American federations also work towards making football more suitable for the players so they don't need to leave their families at such a young age.

I remember that time when musicians composed melodies strong enough to touch broken hearts all around the city.

Those kinds of songs were not too flat nor too loud, but simple, honest, beautiful.
