My notes
Great, Thanks!!
Thank you very much
How do you define the market size for a b2b startup? I was thinking something like "Hablalo" from Argentina for example, they offer free software to costumers and make profit from contracts with large enterprises and pymes. How do you calculate that?
I think this question is for another course, maybe this one: https://platzi.com/clases/growth-startups/
You can open a "closed door" with a hook, that could be the meaning of starting with a reflexive question in a pitch.
I heard investors are looking for billion dollar markets. So be sure to show big (and real) numbers on your pitch.
What does it mean "Top down or bottom up estimation"?
Hi Bervivez
Top-down estimating occurs when company management imposes a cost and/or duration on a project, usually without a detailed cost analysis.
Thanks man!
in case there is no industry data, how is the market size assessed? I am looking for information on the handcraft industry, or women working from home.
Hi Matilde, try checking data-bases in English: there is more information on the internet in English than in Spanish. If you definitely don't find anything, try to break what you are looking for into smaller questions:
For example:
Etc. :)
TAM + SAM + SOM Explained
Total Addressable Market(TAM): total market for your product. It’s the maximum revenue that a business in this sector can generate. This is your potential at scale.
Serviceable Available Market(SAM): portion of the Total Addressable Market you can acquire, based on your business model. Shows the target market share.
Serviceable Obtainable Market(SOM): percentage of SAM you can realistically capture. Since it’s extremely difficult to convince everyone in a given market to buy or use your product, you’re most likely to not capture 100% of the market. SOM helps to determine short-term sales goals.
Really good class I learned a lot, thanks!!
Excelent video, thanks platzi.
