The ability to communicate in complex ways is one of the most important superpowers we have as humans beings. We achieve this in several different ways, one of which is through audiovisual products. For instance, it is fascinating to see how we can convey emotions through shot angles and the composition of photos and images.
At Platzi, we now have a course that will set the context for you to learn and practice the language needed to work with audiovisual projects whether that is at a professional level or just for fun.
Once you start this course, you will want to know more about Alita Zaniolo, the great teacher behind this course. In this blogpost you will be able to learn a few interesting things about her.
Where were you born, Alita?
I was born in Italy
Where have you traveled or lived?
I have lived in: Italy, Canada, Switzerland. I have travelled to Nicaragua, Spain, France, Germany, Croatia, Israel, Portugal, USA, and the UK.
Which is your favorite place in the world?
I loved Israel and Nicaragua, those are my favourite countries so far, but my “favourite place” is being next to the ones I love ❤
Which languages do you speak and how did you learn them?
I speak: English (mother tongue), Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Tigrinya and a little bit of German. I picked all of those languages up on the street by talking to people except for German which I learned in School and coincidentally is my weakest language (probably because no heart was put into it).
How has speaking different languages helped you?
Speaking different languages has helped me to open my mind to different worlds and ways of doing things. It has taught me to understand people, to be more open-minded and to be a better person. Every culture and language that I discovered taught me so much.
When you were little, what would you say you wanted to be?
I wanted to be a Paleontologist ☺
How long have you been a teacher and what is your favorite thing about it?
I have been a teacher for 9 years. I love the interchange of learning and experiencing that takes place in a classroom. I learn from my students all the time! I also LOVE seeing the progress my students make!
Tell us about your course and how was your experience recording courses in Platzi?
I had a great time working with Platzi. My team was very reassuring and I felt supported. It was a very pleasant experience.
Which are your top 3 tips to improve English speaking skills?
- Don’t take yourself too seriously - it’s ok to make mistakes, just keep trying, keep talking
- Try to think in English while speaking it
- Grow to love the culture of your target language!
