En lugar de decir "Hi, this is John, my partner", prueba con:
Decir "Look what I brought you" resulta demasiado directo; "I would like you to imagine" abre la puerta a la imaginación de tu audiencia.
¿Por qué usar would like en vez de want en presentaciones? Porque would like suena más educado y profesional.

Third quarter of last year, when I was doing classes I saw really good results using Storytelling. I used to prepared the material using characters and the students were concentrating throughout the entire class.

From my point of view there are lot of different ways in which we can introduce ourselves or inmerse people into our subject, playing with their curiosity or generating a specific kind of feeling with a prepared speech. It's a way to make people have a mindset according to what we are about to talk and also the way we speech the entonation, how we move our hands, the expression of our faces and a big etc...
For a very engaging intro heres a ted talk from Radagast. The intro is quite long but he keeps the interest over it all along https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIh9LpMORD0&ab_channel=TEDxTalks
Techniques for engaging your audience
Here are some other strategies you might consider:
Introducing yourself and others in English
When presenting, introductions are often necessary. Here are some polite ways to introduce yourself, someone else, or your topic using modal plus infinitive verbs:
These softer, more polite phrases make introductions more engaging and respectful.
Tips for presenting confidently in a second language
I recommend you this TED talk: Tim Urban: Inside the mind of a master procrastinator https://youtu.be/arj7oStGLkU
It has an interesting opening and the content is important, yet the way he spoke is humoristic.
Start with a quick joke or a simple history. Introduce yourself and provide context between your intro and your presentation.
I recommend Simon Sinek:
Hello, here are some ways you might have in mind to engage the audience and build an effective rapport:
Everyone of the speakers has used the introduction resources seen in class:

My job: When a presentation is going to be made, someone introduces you, gives a brief summary of yourself, and then you go into the important topic. Sometimes, to get attention, the first thing you do is give hard data. After the hard data, you create some emotional connection and continue with the presentation, and at the end, you once again have a striking closing.
Thank you
The best of this class:
An introduction-engaging technique that never fails me:
It lets me explain my way/method.
Being creative: I should link this initial story with the main message and with the final presentation. :)
This is a great Ted talk that I like to see when I need motivation
when presenting ideas or people to others use: I'd like to...
I saw some interesting ways to start a presentation, those ways are interesting because you get people's attention, and they will be with you during the whole presentation.
When I had to give a speech for Platzi conf, I tried to use an engaging title for the presentation. All of the bullet points that the professor shared with us, rea really important, however, from my standpoint, the most important is the projection of voice and clarity. Good introduction to an interesting topic
