I didn't catch that last part of changing verbs, but I guess it kind of the depends of the context and the verb gets a value of change.

El verbo get es algo ambiguo. Por ejemplo: -Do you get it? (¿Lo entiendes?) -Get out of here! (¡Sal de aquí!) -You need to get a job (necesitas conseguir un empleo).
La mejor manera de entenderlo es exponerte repetidamente a contenido en inglés. De a poquito y quizás sin darte cuenta vas a ir absorbiendo los significados

It's just like the verbs that represent a change in the state of something/someone. That is in fact almost any verb
