How do I handle a brick wall?

When you feel like you are talking to a brick wall, it means the person you are speaking to is completely ignoring you, not understanding, or refusing to listen to your advice. It is incredibly frustrating! To handle this, first, stop repeating yourself. The "brick wall" is not going to suddenly move just because you push harder. Instead, change your communication strategy. Ask open-ended questions to force them to engage, such as, "What are your thoughts on what I just said?" Alternatively, try putting your message in writing via email or text, which gives them time to process the information at their own pace. If they still refuse to engage, you might need to accept that you cannot force someone to listen and simply walk away from the conversation until they are ready.
