This tip is very useful to learn easily the past simple. We use Past simple to talk about how things were before.
Past simple structure:

• Affirmative form:
  Subject + Past Verb Be + Complement
• Negative form:
  Subject + Past Verb Be + Not + Complement
• Interrogative form:
