Before abstract nouns except in particular expressions
- Man fear death // The death of the prime Minister was shocking. (more used in its possessive form).
After a noun in the possessive case or a possessive adjective
- The uncle of the boy = the boy´s uncle
- The book is mine = it is my book
Before names of meal
- Breakfast etc
Before parts of the body and articles of clothing
- Raise your right hand
- He took off his coat

- She seized the child´s collar // She seized the child by _the _collar.
- I patted his shoulder // I patted him on _the _shoulder

NOTE THAT IN SOME LANGUAGES THE DEFINITE ARTICLE IS USED BEFORE INDEFINITE PLURAL NOUNS IN ENGLISH NEVER

The same for other words like -
chapel, church, market, college, school, hospital court, prison, work…etc.
we go to church, we go to_ the market_ (exception when these places are not used for their primary purpose) to buy, we go to court as litigants…etc USE TO to clarify. -
