Can I use the definite article THE with weather? For example, is it correct to say: I love the rainy weather? or I love rainy weather?

I'm not an English teacher but "I love rainy weather" sounds better. I have the same problem, I try to add "the" to a lot of sentences, but most of the times it isn't necessary. It is used mostly when you try to be specific. It's not the same "give me a spoon" than "give me the spoon". Because in the second sentence, there is a special spoon, both people know they are talking about a special spoon.
