Si aún no tienes clara las diferencias entre adjetivos y adverbios, no te preocupes, ahora lo comprenderás.
Los adjetivos describen las cualidades de un sustantivo.
Por ejemplo: The cat is lazy. Estamos dando una cualidad del gato: es perezoso.
Los adverbios describen cómo se realiza una acción.
Por ejemplo: The cat runs quickly. Estamos describiendo qué tan rápido corre el gato: rápidamente
Adjetivo | Traducción | Adverbio | Traducción |
---|---|---|---|
Patient | Paciente | Patiently | Pacientemente |
Horrible | Horrible | Horribly | Horriblemente |
Nervous | Nervioso | Nervously | Nerviosamente |
Quick | Rápido | Quickly | Rápidamente |
Shy | Tímido | Shyly | Tímidamente |
Lazy | Perezoso | Lazyly | Perezosamente |
Loud | Ruidoso | Loudly | Ruidosamente |
Quiet | Callado | Quietly | Calladamente |
Comfortable | Cómodo | Comfortably | Cómodamente |
Cheerful | Alegre | Cheerfully | Alegremente |
Observemos cómo cambian los adjetivos cuando los convertimos en adverbios:
Seguramente te diste cuenta de que hard no cambia de forma. Esto es porque es tanto un adjetivo como un adverbio. Cuando es un adverbio, significa que necesita o utiliza mucho esfuerzo físico o mental.
Por ejemplo:
I studied hard for my exams but didn’t do very well. / Estudié mucho para mis exámenes pero no me fue muy bien.
We have worked hard all day. / Hemos trabajado mucho durante todo el día.
“Hardly” es otro adverbio, pero no significa “mucho esfuerzo físico o mental”. “Hardly” suele significar “apenas” o "casi".
I had a terrible night, I hardly slept. / Tuve una noche terrible, apenas dormí.
It was raining so hard that I hardly saw your face. / Llovía tanto que casi no vi tu cara.
“Hardly ever” es un adverbio de frecuencia que significa: no muy a menudo o casi nunca.
He hardly ever smiles / El casi nunca sonríe.

“Hard” is an adjective like an adverb.
Hay un pequeño error en la descripción, estaba leyendo acerca de hard y hay dos ejemplos donde lo ponen como adverbio y adjetivo, pero en su traducción no se ve la diferencia del uno al otro, fue muy confuso al principio pero después vi que posiblemente se debió usar la palabra “duro” en vez de “mucho”

Most adverbs are formed by adding -ly to the end of the related adjective. Exceptionally, words which end in -ble drop off the -e before -ly is added.
