Learning how to interpret coaching assessment results is the step that turns a completed questionnaire into a warm invitation for your coachee to start working with you. This guide is for coaches who already ran an assessment and now want to build a report that feels formal, transparent, and genuinely caring.

Coaching is a beautiful path, so your job here is to invite: "Come and take the first step with us." A well made report is how you tell your potential client that you care about their growth.

What should a good coaching report include?

A strong initial report is built on three parts, and each one has a purpose. The order matters because you move from who you are, to what you found, to what you offer.

The methodology: how the learning process happens when you coach, what your credentials as an educator or coach are, and how you teach [0:38].
The focus on the coachee: the strengths and the areas of improvement you found through the assessment [0:58].
The personalized solution: how you plan to help this specific person move forward [1:10].

Think of it as introducing yourself, then holding up a mirror, and finally handing over a map. That sequence is what makes the invitation feel earned.

What are the three parts of a coaching report? They are the methodology, the focus on the coachee, and the personalized solution. First you explain how you teach, then you show the strengths and improvement areas, and finally you propose a tailored plan.

Why does transparency matter in your report?

Transparency means that whatever the answers from your coachee were, you report them honestly [1:20]. You do not hide the weak spots or inflate the strengths. You present both, exactly as they came in.

There are two practical ways to show that transparency:

Show a full list of every right and wrong answer your potential coachee gave.
If you used a rating, show the rating, either item by item or as an aggregated result [1:37].

The key word here is objective. Show the good things you found and the things that need work, side by side. Honesty is what makes your report trustworthy enough to open a door.

How do you present results with a radar chart?

When your assessment uses a Likert scale, one of the most practical formats is the radar chart [1:53]. These charts look like spider webs because they display information across several dimensions at once.

Here is how it works in a real conflict assessment example. The chart reflects five answers visually across five dimensions:

Identifying conflict.
Rejecting conflict.
Identifying the source of conflict.
And other related dimensions.

Each dimension gets a number from zero to five, where zero means the person does not know anything about the topic and five is the maximum on the scale [2:52]. A quick glance shows where someone is strong and where they need support, without reading a wall of text.

What is a radar chart in coaching? It is a web shaped graphic that plots assessment scores across several dimensions at once. Each axis holds a rating from zero to five, so you can see strengths and gaps visually in one image.

Strengths list or radar chart, which works better?

Both formats deliver value, and the difference comes down to how much detail you want on the page. A written list of strengths and improvement areas is very wordy but specific.

In the conflict example, the strengths list included showing assertive behavior and identifying where conflict exists [2:19]. The improvement areas included rejecting conflict and using only one style to resolve conflict [2:26].

The list gives rich, word heavy detail, while the radar chart compresses those same findings into a visual snapshot [2:40]. Many coaches use both: the chart to grab attention, the list to explain the nuance. Later in the process, you will sit down with your client and discuss these findings together, which is the real invitation to enter the door with you [3:00].

Your challenge: build a report from real answers

Now it is challenge time, and this one turns theory into practice fast. Take the five questions you created in the last module and ask a friend to answer them as candidly and transparently as possible [3:20].

Here is the simple ask you can use:

Tell your friend you are practicing creating a coaching report.
Have them answer your five questions honestly.
Build a report that interprets those results.
Take a picture or upload it to the discussion board so others can see it [3:47].

Also look at other people's reports for ideas and leave some feedback. That is how you sharpen your eye for what makes an interpretation clear and inviting. Now go and amaze the world.
